Last year, Forbes.com rated Fort Collins the third-best place for business and careers in the country. This year, the city ranks second on the list, behind Raleigh, N.C.
In fact, according to the editors of Forbes, Colorado accounts for 4 of the top 20 metros on the list. Colorado Springs ranks No. 10, Denver comes in at No. 14, and Boulder rounds out the top 20. Forbes evaluates metro areas on cost of doing business, projected job growth, educational attainment and metro area population.

New Belgium one of the best places to work
FORT COLLINS - The Wall Street Journal named New Belgium Brewing one of the best small workplaces in the nation.
The second annual "Top Small Workplaces" list is based on nominations received last fall. WSJ and Winning Workplaces, a nonprofit focused on small and mid-sized employers, received 406 applicants. A national panel of small business experts reviewed 35 finalists, choosing the 15 top employers.
The "lead by example" method for encouraging its 320 employees to make environmentally conscious choices was cited as one of the reasons New Belgium is among the top employers. Other attributes listed were its stock-ownership program and the trip to Belgium given to five-year employees.
New Belgium also received honors this weekend for its product at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. The brewery took home a gold medal for its Mothership Wit/Organic Wheat Beer in the Belgian-Style Witbier category. Odell Brewing Co., along with homebrewer Alex Grote, received a bronze medal for its Irish Red in the Pro-Am Competition. The Pro-Am contenders are brewed by professional craft brewers based on award-winning homebrew recipes from American Homebrewers Association members.
